Hi! I’m Uniword, the pink unicorn. You know what? I’m going to teach your child to read English with a very interesting method that includes Orton–Gillingham ideas!

Regular unicorns don’t have superpowers, but I’m able to voice literally any word, including the name of your child’s favorite pet, superhero or treat, the names of his or her friends and siblings, and much more. It’s makes the educational process easy, engaging and exciting!

To make a word easier and clearer for your child, I divide it into easy-to-pronounce parts called “unies.”

There are three kinds of unies: consonant+vowel, one vowel or one consonant. For example, the word “DONUT” consists of three unies: DO, NU and T.

In order not to confuse a child with a variety of silent letters, unies are represented as transcriptions in clouds below the word. When you tap on a cloud, the corresponding letters are highlighted and your child hears the correct pronunciation of the word part.

The app offers a variety of ideas and exercises you can use to improve your kid’s reading skills, such as phonemic awareness, phonics and vocabulary.

In the “I Spy” section, your child can play with a unicorn, solve riddles and learn new words. Just listen to the hints and tap the objects! If you choose correctly, Uniword will pronounce the word uni by uni and then as a whole word. Each riddle consists of general features of an object, such as its appearance and/or usage and the first letter of the object’s name. Here are some examples:

“I spy, with my little eye, something striped and roaring that begins with T.”

“I spy, with my little eye, something used to water flowers that begins with W.”

Your child can learn new words and improve reading and guessing skills with Uniword!
